The outdoor illumination level clearly depends on weather, geographical location, and altitude, and can reach 130000 lux on sunny days. When it is cloudy or partly cloudy, the illumination level of the outdoor area is 15000 lux, and the light intensity of the street is affected by buildings and other factors, fluctuating between 6000 and 16000 lux. On cloudy days, the light intensity under the shade of trees is about 5000 to 8000 lux.

After wearing sunglasses, some sunlight will be blocked. Type 2 sunglasses can reduce the intensity of incoming light by about 60%, and the impact of sun hats on light intensity is also similar.

If we calculate the cumulative daily light intensity according to the method mentioned above, then we can fully prevent myopia by playing outdoors on cloudy days or playing in the shade of trees for 2 hours on sunny days. There is no need to expose ourselves to direct sunlight, as long-term exposure to high-intensity ultraviolet rays is not beneficial to health.
