The country's first folk glasses museum calls for support He Jinquan, the founder of Guangzhou's time-honored brand "Jinquan Glasses", hopes to pass on the history of Chinese glasses, so he paid out of his own pocket to collect antique glasses and glasses equipment of different ages around the world, so as to open the country's first folk glasses museum in 2013 and open to the public for free. At present, the Glasses Museum has a collection of more than 100 pieces, including the world's first optometry machine, glasses at home and abroad in the Ming and Qing dynasties and other treasures.
It comes from three sources: a small part is collected by Master Guo Bing, some are given by overseas Chinese, and most of them are bought back from abroad.
"These are all unique products, in order to buy goods, I have tried to get lost in the middle of the night in foreign countries." He Jinquan said. At the Guangzhou Optical Exhibition held from November 6th to 8th, the country's first private optical museum brought 9 pieces of antique glasses, optometry equipment, measuring instruments, ophthalmology books and other treasures collected from all over the world to exhibit The oldest pair of glasses can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty nearly 500 years ago.
According to the staff, the glasses dispensing skills at that time should not be underestimated, and the main beam connecting the two round frames was made of fine copper and there was a mechanism in the middle, which could fold the glasses into a single-frame sized glasses case. As the owner of a 60-year-old shop, Ho Kam-chuen consciously shoulders the responsibility of inheriting and carrying forward the time-honored shop, but he hopes to get more support.
"To put it simply, there is not much traffic on this street during the day, and even less at night because there are no street lights, so I hope to make the surrounding environment better and make the time-honored street more popular."
