PogoTec Launches PogoCam Modular Eyewear Camera Today, a small company called PogoTec announced the launch of PogoCam Modular Camera Glasses. Unlike other companies that integrate the camera into the glasses, PogoCam takes a modular route and uses magnetic metal frames to attach the modular camera. PogoTec calls the design "PogoTrack," and the company says it has partnered with a number of frame companies to launch frames that are compatible with PogoTrack designs.

PogoTec has not named the partners at this time, but Richard Kropes, vice president of corporate communications, showed off about 30 different styles of spectacle frames during a short briefing last week. The point of the idea is that users can attach a set of PogoTec products to any pair of glasses. The first PogoTec product is the aforementioned camera. The $129 camera, called PogoCam, is smaller than a lipstick and has its own rechargeable battery that attaches magnetically to any pair of PogoTrack-compatible frames.

The biggest advantage of this design is that if the other person feels uncomfortable on any occasion, the user can immediately take off the camera without affecting the user's vision. Due to its size, the PogoCam has a built-in 5-megapixel sensor that can only take 100 photos or store 120 seconds of 720p video, unlike Google Glass, which does not have a wireless file transfer function, and users have to connect the camera to a PC via an adapter to transfer files.
