Without effective policy intervention, the prevalence of myopia in China over the age of 5 will increase to about 51% by 2020, with 700 million people suffering from myopia. Zheng Kaiping, a deputy to the National People's Congress, called for attention to the problem of myopia among adolescents, and suggested that the status quo of focusing on treatment and neglecting prevention of myopia among adolescents in the past should be changed, and that a prevention and control system for adolescents should be established in Shenzhen through the establishment of visual health records for primary and secondary school students and the establishment of a myopia prevention and control institute for adolescents.

After achieving the lowest rate of poor vision in Futian District for three consecutive years, it was awarded the Outstanding Project of Characteristic School Operation in the 2015 Futian District School Teaching Comprehensive Evaluation. In Nanshan District, the rate of poor eyesight among students at Liuxian Primary School has also dropped significantly, from 48.43% at the beginning of the move to 35.63% in 2014.
What is commendable is that Shenzhen's "Bright Express" activity covers all students in each school (the number of students is more than 1,000), and the service is free of charge for several years.
