Intel acquires Recon to enter the smart glasses market

Chip giant Intel has announced the acquisition of Recon, a Canadian company that creates a series of high-tech eyewear products for sports enthusiasts.

 

Intel's move indicates that it will enter the wearables market.

 

Despite the mixed growth rate of the wearable technology market,

 

Intel, however, has not slowed down its investment in this area.

 

According to the Wall Street Journal, the chip giant announced the acquisition of Recon,

 

The latter is a Canadian company that creates a line of high-tech eyewear for sports enthusiasts.

 

Recon's Jet glasses, which start at $699, project information such as time and distance within the lens while jogging or cycling.

 

The product also has a video recording function.

 

Intel did not disclose financial details of the acquisition.

 

An Intel spokesperson stressed that the deal is small,

 

and does not have a material financial impact on the company, and Intel has previously invested in RECON.
